The Hunger games ( The Hunger Games #1) Catching Fire (The Hunger Games #2) Mockingjay (The Hunger Games #3) Summary: The Hunger Games trilogy takes place in an unidentified future time period after the destruction of the current nations of North America, in a totalitarian nation known as "Panem". Panem consists of a hugely rich Capitol, located in what used to be the Rocky Mountains, and twelve (formerly thirteen) surrounding, poorer districts which are under the hegemony of the Capitol. The Capitol is lavishly rich and technologically futuristic, but the twelve Districts are in varying states of poverty – the trilogy's narrator and protagonist, Katniss Everdeen, lives in the poorest District 12, formerly Appalachia, where people regularly die of starvation. As punishment for a rebellion generations previous against the Capitol wherein twelve of the districts were defeated and the thirteenth purportedly destroyed, every year one boy and one girl from each

Summary: This time, the straight-and-narrow path could be the road to ruin. Dr. Elyse Morgan’s mission: find the cure to the HTN4 virus. The compensation, courtesy of the United Nations: a lab stocked with hi-tech goodies, limitless resources and enough chocolate to make her rear look like a cellulite farm. Bonus: she gets to live. Rescued (kidnapped) and secreted (imprisoned) on an undersea warship, Elyse adjusts to her assumed identity as a cadet with the finesse of a toeless ballerina. Her sulfuric temper and blatant insubordination capture the unwanted attention of the ship’s captain, the gorgeous, infuriating, engaged Nicoli Marek. Elyse would rather perform her own autopsy than become the other woman, but Nicoli—who’s as full of himself as he is of secrets—regards his impending marriage as a mere political transaction. And Elyse as fair game. As Elyse’s suspicions about the UN’s true agenda mount along with her attraction to the relentless, chronically shirtless captai

Gradually, she starts to question all the plans she's made for herself- and realizes that the life she's always dreamed of may not compare to a future she never imagined. My review: I liked this book. It reminded me of Hunger games in some ways but that could be just because I read them recently. I like this idea of reality show like Selection, it makes an interesti

Dont fear the reaper read-a-long - Final Week

Slika
It is the final week of this great read-a-long. I really enjoyed re-reading this book because I am a huge fan of this series. It was really awesome reading answers from other bloggers participating and to see how they enjoyed this book.  This Week's Questions: 1. One of my favorite aspects of this book are the witty snippets at the beginning of every chapter. I especially like the t shirt quotes. My favorites are: Jenius Sarcasm. Only one of the services offered. Do not disturb. Already there. What is the funniest t-shirt or bumper sticker you have encountered? What t-shirt saying best describes your personality? My favorites from this book were: "You know you have ADD when Look A chicken !" “Genius has it's limitations. Insanity... not so much " “I'd have a longer attention span if there weren't so many shiny things. " The t-shirt saying

Summary: WORLDS KEPT THEM APART. DESTINY BROUGHT THEM TOGETHER. Aria has lived her whole life in the protected dome of Reverie. Her entire world confined to its spaces, she's never thought to dream of what lies beyond its doors. So when her mother goes missing, Aria knows her chances of surviving in the outer wasteland long enough to find her are slim. Then Aria meets an outsider named Perry. He's searching for someone too. He's also wild - a savage - but might be her best hope at staying alive. If they can survive, they are each other's best hope for finding answers. My review: This book was fantastic. Lately I am really getting into dystopia and I must say that Under the never sky is one of the best book in the genre to me. I am so thrilled with the world that Veronica Rossi created, everything is so easy to picture in your head, while you read it is like watching a movie in your mind. There are many characters that left a huge impact on me but mostly Per

It’s the 3rd week of the  First Grave on the Right  read-along! You can still  sign-up  and participate . Grab a copy of  First Grave on the Right  and start reading!     I am a little late this week again, sorry. 1. I do have a soft spot for Charley's Aunt Lilian. She is sweet and soft while somehow also being a little dirty and I find that hilarious in an aunt. Do you have any relatives dead or alive that remind you of Aunt Lillian? If not, tell me about your favorite deceased relative. I dont have anyone remtely like Lilian. I think she is one of a kind. My favorite deceased relative is my grandpa. He died of leukemia three years ago. He was a very fun person who always supported me no matter what and I will always be grateful for that. 2. In these chapters, we get a little closer to Reyes and his secrets. Neil, the warden at the prison where Reyes is currently incarcerated - and a high school mate of Charley's - tells a story about how Reyes ended up in the Coma a

Shadows (Lux 0.5) by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Summary: The last thing Dawson Black expected was Bethany Williams. As a Luxen, an alien life form on Earth, human girls are…well, fun. But since the Luxen have to keep their true identities a secret, falling for one would be insane. Dangerous. Tempting. Undeniable. Bethany can’t deny the immediate connection between her and Dawson. And even though boys aren’t a complication she wants, she can’t stay away from him. Still, whenever they lock eyes, she’s drawn in. Captivated. Lured. Loved. Dawson is keeping a secret that will change her existence...and put her life in jeopardy. But even he can’t stop risking everything for one human girl. Or from a fate that is as unavoidable as love itself.  My review: After reading Onyx for the first time, I had to go and read Shadows all over again. This was my second reading. I re-read Obsidian and Onyx many times but Shadows was so heartbreaking I stood clear from it. Now, some things happen in Onyx so I wanted to go look into the past

Grab a copy of First Grave on the Right and start reading!     I am a little late this week, sorry, but better late than never, right *wink*? 1. Shiny objects and old family stories are told in this chapter, including an old nickname for our dear Charley. What was the nickname her uncle Bob gave her when she was little? Do you have an old nickname from when you were a kid? You can share it, and if it's really embarrassing we won't mind. *wink*  Her nickname was Calamity as in Calamity Jane. I think she probably well deserved that one. I can just imagine her when she was little and the image is so funny. My nickname was Lee. But when I first came to my new elementary school when I was 12, I was among the tallest people in school so they called me Mount Everrest XD. 2. In this chapter we met someone. A really special guy named Rocket. Now, my memory is not
