QUOTES

"I twist the ring around my left finger. It’s foreign to my body, but in the same way a new pet is foreign to a person’s home. It represents work and responsibility, but somehow you know that it will eventually become a part of you. Jack’s already a part of me. It’s just the ring that’s new."DAYLIGHT by Julie Cross

Jennifer L. Armentrout's WHITE HOT KISS release day launch (Excerpt + giveaway)

"Use Grammarly for proofreading because there is a difference in knowing your s**t and knowing youre s**t."

White hot Kiss Release Day banner

We are beyond excited to participate in the Release Day Launch for Jennifer L. Armentrout's WHITE HOT KISS! WHITE HOT KISS is a young adult paranormal romance being published by Harlequin Teen TODAY! This is the first full-length novel in The Dark Elements Series and one you'll want to grab as soon as you finish reading this post. Here is my review White hot kiss ARC review

  White Hot Kiss

 Summary:

One kiss could be the last. Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

  EXCERPT:

“I don’t think of Zayne that way!” She laughed. “What man-parts-loving female in this world doesn’t think of Zayne that way? I can barely keep myself breathing when I see him. All the guys in school have squishy waists. I can tell Zayne doesn’t. He’s the awesome sauce with extra sauce.” That he was and he so didn’t have a squishy waist, but I tuned Stacey out at that point. I really did need to cram for this test and I also didn’t want my fantasies involving Zayne to occupy my mind right now. Especially after I’d woken up this morning, carefully tucked under the covers. The bed had smelled like him: sandalwood and crisp linen. “Oh, sweet baby Jesus in a manger,” Stacey murmured. I clenched my jaw, cupping my hands over my ears. She jabbed me in the side with her elbow. At this rate I’d be covered in bruises before lunchtime. “Our bio class just got a billion times more interesting. And hotter, lots and lots hotter. Holy mother, I want to have his babies. Not now of course, but definitely later. But I’d like to start practicing soon.” The cell wall is a thick and rigid layer covering the plasma something, something plant cells… Stacey stiffened all of a sudden. “Oh my God, he’s coming—” Composed of fat and sugar— Something slender and shiny fell from who knew where, landing in the middle of Sam’s notes. Blinking tightly, it took me a couple of seconds to recognize the faded and half peeled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sticker covering the back of the silver cell phone. My heart slammed against my ribs. Gripping the edges of the notebook, I slowly lifted my gaze. Unnaturally beautiful golden eyes met mine. “You forgot this last night.”

Up From the Grave (Night Huntress #7) by Jeaniene Frost (Review)

Summary:

There’s always one more grave to dig.

Lately, life has been unnaturally calm for vampires Cat Crawfield and her husband Bones. They should have known better than to relax their guard, because a shocking revelation sends them back into action to stop an all-out war…

A rogue CIA agent is involved in horrifying secret activities that threaten to raise tensions between humans and the undead to dangerous heights. Now Cat and Bones are in a race against time to save their friends from a fate worse than death…because the more secrets they unravel, the deadlier the consequences. And if they fail, their lives—and those of everyone they hold dear— will be hovering on the edge of the grave.

My review:

“Can we move this along?" a bored voice stated. "I have places to be and people to shag."
"Ian, I'm not going to hug you," I stated as I approached him. "I know you like this better."
With that, I slapped him hard enough to rock his head to the side. When he'd straightened, he flashed me a wicked grin.
"Finally, you give me what I want. Knew you loved me, Reaper.”

I cant believe that this is the end of Cat and Bones s story even though I am sure they will appear in other Night prince books or in books about other Night huntress characters. I just love Cats POV. She can be a challenge sometimes, with her stubborness or her being naive in most difficult moments, but she changed so much from that bitter young girl who kills vampires with prejudice we met in Halfway to the grave. And I am going to miss Bones, one of my favorite vampires of all time, so powerful, intelligent, cunning, hot and so in love with Cat that love is pouring from every page. An I am ceartainly going to miss his talking British (bloody sods) :) I cant believe I am going to say this, but I will miss Ian most of all.  He brought so much humor to this series and he gave us someone to hate when we needed it the most. And although he was a jerk most of the time, he is always charming and is always there to help. I really hope he gets his book. There are other characters I am going to miss, like Mencheres and his quiet support, Tate and his bickering with Bones, Spade and Denise, Dave, Juan and Cooper, Fabian, even Anette and Justine because they all brought something to this series. Up from the grave is a great ending, some big surprises await you, a lot of blood and heads flying but in the end, everything is as it should be.

"Everyone... we'll see you again, some soon, some later, but as vampires say, until again."

Blog Tour: Liabilities (Balance Sheet #2) by Shannon Dermott (Excerpt and giveaway)

Synopsis:

Trying to put distance between her and Kalen won’t be easy for Bailey. She doesn’t expect that her life will get more complicated when she heads home. At first glance, she knows she’s made a calculated mistake. Turner is everything he had been and more. With her heart out of balance, she risks becoming a liability to everyone surrounding her.

Excerpt

“This dress should be labeled cock blocker,” he hissed.
I looked at the fabric that covered me to my toes. His hands disengaged and reached my hips. He fisted the fabric, slowly pulling it higher to reveal my calves and then my knees.
He descended so fast I had no time to stop him. Then reverently he looked up at me with the skirt of my dress held at thigh level. He was waiting on an answer. We were adults. It wasn’t as if this was the first time we’d seen each other’s skin. I nodded, giving him the approval he sought.
Then his mouth was on me. His tongue danced along the seam line of my underwear until he let go of one side of my skirt, half hiding his face from me in fabric. But I didn’t need to see him to know where he was. I could feel him shift the scrap of fabric to the side. The first heated taste of his tongue had me leaning my head back upon the tree. I looked up through a tangle of branches.

I'll Give You the Sun
by Jandy Nelson

Expected publication: September 16th 2014 by Dial Books for Young Readers

A brilliant, luminous story of first love, family, loss, and betrayal for fans of John Green, David Levithan, and Rainbow Rowell

Jude and her brother, Noah, are incredibly close twins. At thirteen, isolated Noah draws constantly and is falling in love with the charismatic boy next door, while daredevil Jude surfs and wears red-red lipstick and does the talking for both of them. But three years later, Jude and Noah are barely speaking. Something has happened to wreck the twins in different and divisive ways . . . until Jude meets a cocky, broken, beautiful boy, as well as an unpredictable new mentor. The early years are Noah's story to tell. The later years are Jude's. What the twins don't realize is that they each have only half the story, and if they could just find their way back to one another, they’d have a chance to remake their world.

This radiant, fully alive, sometimes very funny novel from the critically acclaimed author of The Sky Is Everywhere will leave you breathless and teary and laughing—often all at once.

"A wild, beautiful, and profoundly moving novel. Jandy Nelson’s writing is so electric, so alive, her pages practically glow in the dark." Ransom Riggs, New York Times bestselling author of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children and Hollow City

"Jandy Nelson is a rare, explosive talent, and one of the best writers working today. Her prose is vivid, breathtaking, and drenched in passion, and her stories remind me why words can change the world." -Tahereh Mafi, New York Times bestselling author of the Shatter Me series.

My review:

This book had me torn up until the very end. So much loss, lies, anger, secrets, passion but this much is true, it is a love story. Tally and Linc meet for the first time in the middle of tragedy that left Tally heartbroken. When they see each other again, she doesnt remember him but it i obvious they have a connection. So, after a few lies told they spend the night together and from there starts the real story. They are apart but they love each other. The age difference is too big. Lincs career could be in jeopardy because of the age difference. They are both perfectionists with very demanding careers that are their whole lives. They both hurt each other again and again so I almost didnt want them to end up together. How can love survive so many lies, secrets and betrayals? It seems that true love does. There are also a few very interesting support characters like Mara, Tallys best friend, and Rob, the dead twin Hollys boyfriend. They each have their own story within the main one. I cried a lot while reading, the book is very emotional and the writing is great. This is a definite must read for fans of New adult.

These Broken Stars (Starbound #1) by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)

Summary:

It's a night like any other on board the Icarus. Then, catastrophe strikes: the massive luxury spaceliner is yanked out of hyperspace and plummets into the nearest planet. Lilac LaRoux and Tarver Merendsen survive. And they seem to be alone.

Lilac is the daughter of the richest man in the universe. Tarver comes from nothing, a young war hero who learned long ago that girls like Lilac are more trouble than they’re worth. But with only each other to rely on, Lilac and Tarver must work together, making a tortuous journey across the eerie, deserted terrain to seek help.

Then, against all odds, Lilac and Tarver find a strange blessing in the tragedy that has thrown them into each other’s arms. Without the hope of a future together in their own world, they begin to wonder—would they be better off staying here forever?

Everything changes when they uncover the truth behind the chilling whispers that haunt their every step. Lilac and Tarver may find a way off this planet. But they won’t be the same people who landed on it.

--

A timeless love story, THESE BROKEN STARS sets into motion a sweeping science fiction series of companion novels. The Starbound Trilogy: Three worlds. Three love stories. One enemy.

My review:

I have to say, when I first saw this cover, many months befote the book came out, I fell in love. I hoped that the book with a cover that gorgeous wont be a dissappointment. Luckily, I was right. These broken stars is a story about two people, forced by circumstance to be around each other and to help each other even though they cant stand the other but after the ship they were on, Icarus, has some major problems and it fall on the nearest planet. It quickly becomes evident that Tarver, the soldier, and Lilac, the daughter of the most important and richest man in space, are the only survivors. They managed to survive in their POD thanks to Lilacs expertise in electronical devices. On the planet, they start the trek to the Icarus, in hope to find survivors or that someone from the space will find them. They survive big predators, unexplained whispers, sickness and are eating the planets plants and small animals. There is a lot of tragedy in this story but the fact that these two survive everything and that they fall in love in the proces is amazing. Also the descriptions were amazing as was the writing. I look forward to the sequel, it is obvious that Amie and Megan are the dream team and that they will continue to write wonderful stories.

Banishing the Dark (Arcadia Bell #4) by Jenn Bennett

Summary:

The fourth and final installment of a "riveting" (RT Book reviews) urban fantasy series about a renegade mage and the demons who love her.

Complicated does not begin to describe Arcadia Bell's life right now: unnatural magical power, another brush with death, and a murderous mother who's not only overbearing but determined to take permanent possession of Cady's body. Forced to delve deep into the mystery surrounding her own birth, Cady must uncover which evil spell her parents cast during her conception…and how to reverse it. Fast. As she and her lover Lon embark on a dangerous journey through her magical past, Lon's teenage son Jupe sneaks off for his own investigation. Each family secret they uncover is darker than the last, and Cady, who has worn many identities—Moonchild, mage, fugitive—is about to add one more to the list.

Expected publication: May 27th 2014 by Pocket

My review:

It hasnt been long since I fell in love with this series and read first three books in less than two days. If I knew it would have ended this quickly, I would have read it more slowly. The funny thing is, I didnt even know this was the las Arcadia Bell book until the last few chapters and the epilogue. I was devestated but some authors could take a page from Jenn Bennetts book (not literally) and end the series when it is their time, not drag it out. Arcadia Bell series came to its natural end even though I am sad it ended and I would love to read more about Cady, Lon and Jupe. Cady Bell is one of the most interesting and kick ass female characters I ever had a pleasure of reading about. She doesnt avoid her problems, she faces them head on. her relationship with Lon is rock solid and she doesnt look for drama. Lon Butler is a fiercly protective, smart and hot man (and he is a man, not a boy), one of the best book boyfriends ever. The chemistry and love flowing between those two made me swoon on multiple occasions. Jupe is still the heart of this story. He brings joy and humor, he is also always willing to help and he is friendly. I loved hw everything worked out, the ultimate fight between mother (if you could call her that) and daughter was amazingly written, no fooling around. The epilogue melted my heart and I was happy with how their lives looked. I will miss these characters and their antiques but I am glad to have enjoyed this series so much.

Better Homes and Hauntings
by Molly Harper

Expected publication: June 24th 2014 by Pocket Books

Author of the beloved Half Moon Hollow series of vampire romances (Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs), Molly Harper has created a standalone paranormal romance in which a dilapidated haunted house could bring star-crossed lovers together—if it doesn’t kill them first!

When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate—he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in nineteenth-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

But Nina shows no signs of being scared away, even as she experiences some unnerving apparitions herself. And as the two of them work closely together to restore the mansion’s faded glory, Deacon realizes that he’s found someone who doesn’t seem to like his fortune more than himself—while Nina may have finally found the one man she can trust with her bruised and battered heart.

But something on the island doesn’t believe in true love…and if Nina and Deacon can’t figure out how to put these angry spirits to rest, their own love doesn’t stand a ghost of a chance.
